Hernando Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization June Meeting Summary

The Hernando/Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) met on June 11, 2020 in a public meeting at the Hernando County Government Center John Law Ayers County Commission Chambers, 20 N Main Street, Room 160, Brooksville, FL.

The points of interest from the meeting are below:

•             After the Complete Streets Presentation, the MPO Board approved a Draft Complete Streets Policy and authorized staff to continue development of the Implementation Policy and Program.

•             The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) updated the MPO Board regarding installation of a new traffic signal at the SR200 and CR491 intersection in Citrus County. Based on the timeline presented, construction completion is expected by December 2021/January 2022.

•             The MPO Board approved an amendment to the FY 2020-2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP/STIP) to include an updated construction phase to the Withlacoochee State Trail Project in Citrus County per FDOT’s request.

•             The MPO Board reviewed the draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for FY 2021-2025.  The TIP will be scheduled for adoption at the MPO Board’s July 9, 2020, meeting.

•             The MPO Board reviewed the Draft List of Priority Projects (LOPP) for FY 2021/2022 and made no changes.  The LOPP will be scheduled for adoption at the MPO Board’s July 9, 2020, meeting.

•             The MPO Board approved the Transportation Performance Measures (TPM) Consensus Planning Document which outlines the minimum roles of the FDOT, MPOs and the providers of public transportation in the MPO Planning areas to facilitate consistency. 

•             The MPO Board approved the endorsement of the MPO/FDOT Annual Joint Certification Statement and Summary report.

•             The MPO Board authorized staff to begin contract negotiations with Kimley Horn and Associates, and Tindale Oliver and Associates for General Planning Consultant Services.

•             Christine Mestrovich was approved to be the FDOT agency representative on the Citrus County Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (LCB).
