The Hernando/Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) met on March 12, 2020 in a public meeting at the Hernando County Government Center John Law Ayers County Commission Chambers

Hernando Citrus Metropolitan Planning Organization March Meeting Summary

The points of interest from the meeting are below:

•             The Hernando/Citrus MPO was awarded “Supporting Agency of the year for 2019” by the Florida Bicycle Association (FBA) for the extraordinary efforts of support and participation made by the executive director Steve Diez.  Becky Afonso, FBA Executive Director, made a presentation of the award at the MPO Board at the meeting.

•             The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) presented information to the Board regarding the SR 44 resurfacing project in Crystal River (USS 19 NE 10th Avenue.  FDOT Project 441665-1-52-01

•             The MPO Board approved the Fifth Amended and Restated Interlocal Agreement for Regional Transportation Planning and Coordination in West Central Florida.

•             The MPO Board approved the Transportation Alternative Projects Interlocal Agreement Between Hernando County, City of Brooksville and Hernando/Citrus MPO for Coordination of Engineering Services

•             The Amended Lease Agreement with Hernando County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC)/Building Department – 2nd Request to Renew, with additional space was approved

•             The Draft FY 2021-2022 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) was approved to be submitted for comments to FDOT, and a 30-day public comment period was begun.

•             Mr. Carvell Simpson was appointed to the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC).  His appointment will expire on 3/12/2022.

•             Sergeant Kelly Brown from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office was approved to replace Sergeant William Hillman as the HCSO Agency Representative on the Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC).  Agency appointments do not expire.

•             Tracy Noyes was approved to be the FDOT agency representative on the Citrus County Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (LCB).  Dave Newell, also with FDOT, was approved as Ms. Noyes alternate.  Agency appointments do not expire.

•             For the Hernando County Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (TDLCB), Tracy Noyes was approved to be the FDOT Agency Representative.  Dave Newell, also with FDOT, was approved as Ms. Noyes alternate.  Emily Hughart was approved to be the agency representative for the Agency for Healthcare Administration.  Agency appointments do not expire.

•             FDOT has provided the necessary funds to perform the evaluation and repairs of the Withlacoochee State Trail.  FDOT is formalizing the plans and will be sending a request for bids out in May.
