Hernando County Burn Ban Lifted

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on May 24, 2017

The Hernando County Board of County Commissioners has allowed the temporary countywide burn ban to expire as of May 23, 2017.

The recommendation came from Deputy Chief Kevin Carroll after consultation with the Florida Forest Service and based on the recent rains and the improvement in the Keetch Byram Drought Index (KBDI) for Hernando County. The KBDI for Hernando County as of May 22, 2017 is 384.

The community is still asked to be mindful of outdoor burning and adhere to state burning regulations. Click here for detailed information on outdoor burning. You may also visit www.co.hernando.fl.us/firerescue.us for more information
