At the September 19, 2017 tentative budget hearing, the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners voted to reduce taxes by 1/10 mil for Fiscal Year 2018 (FY2018). If approved, this tentative millage rate will generate $54,407,504 in ad valorem revenue for the General Fund. The tentative overall FY2018 General Fund budget is $111,192,906.
The final budget hearing will be held September 26, 2017, 5:01 p.m., at the Government Center located at 20 N. Main Street in Brooksville.
The General Fund includes the Clerk of Court, Property Appraiser, Sheriff’s Office, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector and programs and services provided by the Board of County Commissioners such as emergency management, animal services, parks and recreation, facilities management, libraries, health and human services, economic development, veterans services, code enforcement, planning, zoning, extension services, administration and more.
If approved, the millage rate of 6.8912 will cost a homeowner $689.12 in annual property tax for a home with a taxable value of $100,000.
