Hernando County Florida-Friendly Landscaping March Class/Workshop Schedule

The Hernando County Florida-Friendly Landscaping program offers classes and workshops year-round to help residents learn how to save time, money and water when maintaining their lawns and gardens. All classes will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator Lilly Browning. The schedule of classes and workshops along with a short description of each is listed below.

Free Class: Saving Water and Money in Your Landscape

Residents are invited to attend “Saving Water and Money in Your Landscape” on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the West Hernando Library located at 6335 Blackbird Avenue in Brooksville. Learn how Florida-Friendly Landscaping can reduce the amount of water your yard demands and how to save money by utilizing plants and practices that are budget and water friendly. No registration necessary.

Free Class: Pollinator Gardens

Residents are invited to attend “Pollinator Gardens” on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Spring Hill Branch Library located at 9220 Spring Hill Drive. We need to do all we can to protect our pollinators. Learn which plants attract pollinators to your yard and how to create a pollinator oasis. No registration necessary.

Rain Barrel Workshop

Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel Workshop on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hernando County Utilities Building located at 15365 Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville. Rain barrels are $50 each. Attendance is necessary to purchase a rain barrel; however, you may attend without purchasing one. Pre-registration is required. Please make checks payable to HCUD and mail to Hernando County Utilities, 15365 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, FL 34613. Write “Rain Barrel Workshop March 27” on the envelope. Checks will be the only form of payment accepted and must be received by March 26, 2019. Hernando County Utilities customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive a one-time $25 credit on their water bill. Please bring a vehicle that can accommodate a 55-gallon barrel. Attendance at a workshop is mandatory to purchase a rain barrel. All sales final.
