Hurricane season is June 1 through November 30. Learn how to prepare by attending the 2017 Hernando County Hurricane & Safety Expo, Saturday, June 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at Challenger K8 School located at 13400 Elgin Blvd. in Spring Hill.
Expo highlights include exhibits featuring hurricane safety information and a presentation and forecast from News Channel 8 meteorologist Ed Bloodsworth. 2017 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday
Starting at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2017 qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax. However, the sales tax holiday does not apply to the rental or repair of any of the qualifying items. Additionally, the sales tax holiday does not apply to sales in a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment or airport.
