Hernando County Landscaping Classes & Workshops
The Hernando County Florida-Friendly Landscaping program offers classes and workshops year-round to help residents learn how to save time, money and water when maintaining their lawns and gardens. The schedule of classes and workshops along with a short description of each is listed below.
Free Class: Turf Talk
Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Turf Talk” on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Hernando County Utilities Building located at 15365 Cortez Boulevard in Brooksville at 10:30 a.m. This class will be presented by Florida Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator Lilly Browning and Hernando County Master Gardener, Bernie Bathauer. This will be an informal Q-and-A session focusing on Florida turf, its care and its problems. No registration is necessary.
Rain Barrel Workshop
Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel Workshop on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. The workshop will be held at the Spring Hill Branch Library located at 9220 Spring Hill Drive. This workshop will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator Lilly Browning.
Cost to attend is $50 per person. Pre-registration is required. Please send checks, written out to HCUD to Hernando County Utilities located at 15365 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, FL 34613. Write “Rain Barrel Workshop May 19” on the envelope. Checks will be the only form of payment accepted. Hernando County Utilities Customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive at one-time credit on their water bill for $25. Please bring a vehicle that can accommodate a 55-gallon barrel. Attendance at a workshop is mandatory to purchase a rain barrel. All sales final.
