Free Class  – How to Have a Critter Friendly Yard

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “How to Have a Critter Friendly Yard” on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the West Hernando Library – 6335 Blackbird Ave, Brooksville at 10:30 a.m. Participants will learn about Florida-Friendly Landscaping Principle Number Five – Attract Wildlife. How to bring more life to your landscape will be discussed. The class will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. Free class. No registration necessary.

Free Class – Florida-Friendly Landscaping for Kids – Book Reveal and Review

Volunteer Master Gardeners Kim Cottrell and Evelyn Davis and the University of Florida have created a Florida-Friendly Landscaping book just for kids! Join Ms. Cottrell as she presents a draft of this publication. Bring the kids to review this exciting new book on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Chinsegut Conservation Center – 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville 34601 at 10:00 a.m. Free class. No registration necessary.

Saturday Rain Barrel Workshop on August 10th
Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel workshop on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:30 a. m.  The workshop will be held at the Spring Hill Branch Library – 9220 Spring Hill Dr.  Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning will present the Rain Barrel Workshop.

To attend the Rain Barrel Workshop you must pre-register and send a check for $50 to HCUD – 15635 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34613.  Write “Rain Barrel Workshop August 10” on the envelope. Checks only accepted. They must be received by August 8. 2019.  Hernando County Utilities Customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive at one-time credit on their water bill for $25. Please bring a vehicle that can accommodate a 55 gallon barrel. Attendance at a workshop is mandatory to purchase a rain barrel. All sales final. Free Class –When Bad Landscapes Happen to Good People

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “When Bad Landscapes Happen to Good People” on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at University of Florida IFAS Extension at Hernando County, 16110 Aviation Loop Dr, Brooksville, FL 34604. Lilly Browning, Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, will present this class.  Participants will learn about common mistakes that are made in the central Florida landscape, and how to avoid them. Free class. No registration necessary.

Free Class – How to Become Friends With Florida-Friendly Landscaping

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “How to Become Friends with Florida-Friendly Landscaping” on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at the Spring Hill Branch Library – 9220 Spring Hill Dr. at 10:30 a. m. The class will be presented by volunteer Master Gardener Kim Cottrell. Participants will learn how to convert their landscape into a low-maintenance, budget-friendly, water-wise oasis.  Free class. No registration necessary.

Free Class – Master Gardener Secrets – Revealed!

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Master Gardener Secrets Revealed!” on Wednesday, August 28, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Hernando County Utilities, 15365 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, FL 34613. The class will be presented by volunteer Master Gardeners Sue and Bernie Bathauer. Do you feel like your Florida yard is keeping secrets from you in how to care for it? Learn from master gardeners who continually try to crack the code! Let their experience be your guide. Free class. No registration required.
