Free Class  – Tis the Season – Best Plants for Florida Holidays and Beyond

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Tis the Season – Best Plants for Florida Holidays and Beyond” on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at the West Hernando Library – 6335 Blackbird Ave, Brooksville at 10:30 a.m. Many traditional holiday plants can be grown year-round in Florida. Participants will learn which plants hold up the best, and how to bring a touch of the holidays to their landscape all year long.  The class will be presented by the Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. Free class. No registration is necessary.

Free Class – Alter – Natives for Your Landscape

Residents are invited to a free class on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Chinsegut Conservation Center – 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville 34601 at 10:00 a.m. Lilly Browning, Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, will present this class. Learn about fantastic Florida native plants and how they can be incorporated into your landscape for a flourishing and beautiful yard. No registration is necessary.

Hernando County Utilities Water Awareness Series Offers Class on Lawns


Hernando County residents are invited to attend a free seminar, “Winter Cold Protection in Your Florida Yard & Cool and Colorful Yards” on Friday, December 13, 2019, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Hernando County Utilities, 15365 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, 34613. BJ Jarvis, County Extension Director, Citrus County, will talk about how to keep your Central Florida plants safe during a frost or freeze event. Lilly Browning, Hernando County Florida-Friendly Landscaping will show how to turn your yard into a winter wonderland – Florida-Style!

Light refreshments will be served.  Registration is requested.
