Free Class  – Simple Steps to a Florida-Friendly Yard

Residents are invited to attend a free class, “Simple Steps to a Florida-Friendly Yard” on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the West Hernando Library – 6335 Blackbird Ave, Brooksville at 10:30 a.m. Trying to have a nice yard can be overwhelming. This class will help you take a few simple steps that will make a big impact in your landscape. The class will be presented by the Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. Free class. No registration is necessary.

Free Class – Fall Blooming Natives

Volunteer Master Gardener Rita Grant will discuss the awesome varieties of native plants that bring Autumn to life in Central Florida. Learn how to incorporate more natives into your landscape, which will reduce your workload and increase your wildlife population.  Join us Friday, September 6 at Chinsegut Conservation Center – 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville 34601 at 10:00 a.m. Free class. No registration necessary.

Rain Barrel Workshop on September 25

Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel Workshop on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at 10:30 a. m. The Workshop will be held at the Hernando County Utilities Building (Former Tampa Bay Times Building) 15365 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville 34613. Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning will present the Rain Barrel Workshop.

To attend the Rain Barrel Workshop you must pre-register and send a check for $50 to HCUD – 15635 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34613. Write “Rain Barrel Workshop September 25” on the envelope. Checks only accepted. Hernando County Utilities Customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive at one-time credit on their water bill for $25. All sales final. Please bring a vehicle that can accommodate a 55 gallon barrel. Attendance at a workshop is mandatory to purchase a rain barrel.  Please call 352-540-6230 for more information.
