Art in the Park Art Contest Deadline is Extended to January 30, 2020
The Hernando County Fine Arts Council is excited to announce its first-ever artist competition for artwork to be featured at the 36th annual Art in the Park, held March 14-15, 2020, at Tom Varn Park, 306 Darby Lane, Brooksville, Florida.
This art competition’s goal is to broaden the horizons of artists in our community and other communities they engage with. It offers artists the chance to have their work showcased on display at our art show, which features artists from all over the country. The contest is sponsored by Hernando County Fine Arts Council and Roots Creative Co.
The deadline to submit entries has been extended to January 30, 2020.
There is no fee to enter.
This contest is open to visual artists of all ages who live in Hernando County. There will be a limit of 3 entries per person. All artists under the age of 18 must include parental consent.
Designs should reflect and represent the Florida lifestyle and the Florida Adventure Coast. Artists are encouraged to choose subjects that they feel showcase both our area’s beauty and its uniqueness.
Winners will receive cash prizes, exposure and recognition. Winning designs will be featured at Art in the Park, in the event’s souvenir program, and on Art in the Park advertising materials, posters, etc.
- 1st Place Prize: $250 Cash Prize, Interview Spotlight in the AITP Program, an online Art Directory space for 1 year, and 10% of proceeds from products sold.
- 2nd Place Prize: $125 Cash Prize and an online Art Directory space for 1 year.
- 3rd Place Prize: $75 Cash Prize and an online Art Directory space for 1 year
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will also receive their winning design displayed at Art in the Park and will be featured at the Artists Feature Booth.

January Meeting to be Held January 9 at Brooksville City Hall
A meeting of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council will be held 5:30 p.m., Thursday, January 9, 2020, in the Joseph E. Johnston, III Council Chambers, Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville, Florida.
The purpose of this meeting is to consider issues pertaining to routine business matters of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council. All meetings of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council are open to the public and guests are welcome.
Regularly scheduled business meetings of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council are held on the second Thursday of each month and at other times and locations as noticed. Members are appointed by the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners.
The Mission of the Council is to encourage, promote, and support all the creative arts in Hernando County and provide a means to showcase the arts. The Council’s statutory responsibilities include identifying, creating, supporting and enhancing all the arts as well as to develop a center or complex of physical facilities for use by the arts.
