History of the Richloam General Store special speaker presentation by Eric Burkes on Thursday, November 2, 2017 @ 6:30PM at the Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave, Brooksville 34601.

Richloam General Store was built and founded by Sidney Brinson in 1920. The building served as the Express Office, the Post Office and General Store for the community of Richloam until January 31, 1936. In 2016, the building underwent a major renovation and reopened in 2017 as the Richloam General Store. Eric Burkes, the great nephew of Sidney Brinson, will share his presentation on the renovation and restoration of the Richloam General Store and reopening. Eric will also cover the history of Riverland and Richloam, the land, the railroad, the businesses, and the people.

December Meeting: Elections and Auction

Mark your calendar for the December 7 HHPS Meeting, An antiques and collectibles auction will follow voting for the 2018 Board and Officers. Auction proceeds will benefit several historic-related organizations as well as our own efforts to fund a historic marker for Garden Grove, a 1920s planned development.  Refreshments will be served. Fun and good deals are nearly guaranteed.

Florida Pioneer Museum Field Trip

Join the HHPS for a fun day at the Pioneer Florida Museum and Village on November 4th. The museum complex includes Overstreet House, a one-room schoolhouse, a church, a train depot, a train engine, and a museum exhibition of tools, household items, antiques and farm equipment. Costs for admission is $6 senior, $8 adult, $4 student. Sign up sheets will be at the November 2 meeting.
