Homosassa Elementary School seeks Donations for Community

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on April 7, 2020

Homosassa Elementary School needs many items but cannot accept cash.  They can accept gift cards for places like Publix, Winn Dixie, and Dollar General.  Someone from the school does the shopping.  Mrs. Harmon, a school employee, had to go to three different Publix stores to try and complete the grocery list this week.

The Elementary also accepts donations like paper towels, toilet paper, and non-perishable goods for use at the school.

Homosassa Elementary School has assumed responsibility for the Food Pantry that was previously at the United Methodist Church while the state is under “stay-at-home” orders. The school will now accept any type of non-perishable food products such as canned foods, like tuna, chicken, and boxed foods like pasta, crackers, cereals, and breakfast bars for use in the food pantry.

The school is open and someone will be there to accept the donations in the office Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm. (They will be closed Friday, April 10th in celebration of Good Friday.)  Please take your donations to the school and do not drop them off at the civic club.

The Homosassa Civic Club teams with the Homosassa Elementary School to provide Christmas for families in need.  This is an extension of the area’s teamwork in this time of crisis.  Hope you can help.
