After some decent incoming tides this past week from the full moon, there was a good trout bite on the high tide, despite the water never climbing above 59 degrees. The trout bite occurred when the tide would cover the rocky shorelines and allow the fish to sun in the shallows. Jerk baits and twitch baits work best.

On the shallow rocks out to 12 feet, the sheepshead bite has gotten better. The sheepshead will congregate to spawn on the rocks in the cooler water and will be in competition for a meal. Live or fresh shrimp cast next to the rocks will get the bite. I use a 1/8th oz. jig head or a knocker rig with a 1/4 oz. weight and 2/0 Eagle Claw bait holder style hook.

The river fishing remains good on the outgoing tide because it pulls the warm spring fed waters though out the river, triggering a bite.

Live shrimp fished in the deeper holes will catch black drum, sheepshead, redfish and mangrove snapper.

High incoming tide will be early morning or late evening this weekend.
