Looking forward to a week of great tides for inshore and offshore fishing.

Inshore the trout bite continues to be good for the summer time of year. Near finger channels, from in front of the Ft. Island Beach, the St. Martins river mouth and passes south of Chassahowitzka Point, are good starting places. Good colors for soft plastics are glow and bourbon.

The nearshore rocks are producing plenty of grunts, but the big bite with the upcoming full moon will be the mangrove snapper. Free lined live shrimp on a 1/8 oz. jighead will get the bite. I like the very peak of the incoming tide right before it goes slack for the best action. Chumming with small pieces of shrimp helps start the bite but cast just beyond the chum line to avoid catching remoras, porgy’s or spot tails. 

Offshore the gag grouper bite has been ok with keeper fish coming in on live pinfish. Deep water anglers are having luck with amberjack out in the 60′ range using live pinfish.

High incoming tide this weekend will be in the morning with a low tide in the afternoon – best for scalloping.
