Dark waters have given up good numbers of trout. The fish are in 3 to 5 foot of water and hitting on popping cork rigs with a MirrOlure LiL’ John in watermelon red flake on a 1/8 oz. red jighead. The bite is better on a out going tide and if it’s overcast or breezy the trout seem to bite better.

On the incoming tide look for redfish starting to school up. This is the time of year when it’s easy to sit and ” wear out the reds” but consider catching your limit and a few for fun but please don’t sit and sore mouth 20 or 30 fish. Live shrimp, pinfish, and cut bait are good bait but to keep from baiting the hook gold spoons will work just as well.   

The shallow rocks do have some keeper gag grouper. They are hitting plugs but the floating grass makes them difficult to use. Live pinfish is the best bait.

The mangrove snapper has been my target of choice on the rocks. Live shrimp is the best bait  and I give the rock about 5 or ten minutes before we start casting our baits. Mango’s are curious and will swim toward the boat if given a few minutes.

High incoming tide will be early morning or late evening this weekend
