Inverness Summer Music Concert Series begins at the Beach

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on June 7, 2017

The Inverness Cultural Heritage Council is pleased to announce the 3rd annual summer Music at the Museum Concert Series. The series kicks off with a tribute to the Beach Boys on Thursday, June 15. Peter Alden and the Corvairs will perform as the Beach Boys at 7:00 p.m. in the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum. Come dressed in your best 60s and 70s beach wear and you may win a ticket to a future show!  Call 352.341.6428 to reserve seats.

Thursday, July 20th Brian McCullough will treat us to a duo tribute show of classic Roy Orbison and Conway Twitty tunes. Brian has been traveling and perfecting the beautiful and challenging songs of Orbison and Twitty since 1995. In addition to McCullough’s full band, a special not-to-be-missed guest will also be performing: Allan James, Roy Orbison’s guitarist during the 1970s.

In memory of the 40th anniversary of Elvis’s death, on August 17th we will bring Peter Alden back to perform as Elvis! Peter Alden is from Orlando and has performed his tribute show across the U.S. and internationally. Alden has also performed countless lead roles in both dramas and musicals, but it was while he was involved in the production of “Bye, Bye Birdie” that Peter zeroed in on his calling. The musical focuses on an Elvis-style singer being drafted into the army, leading Peter on his lifelong journey as an Elvis tribute artist! He has worked for years to perfect his performance, in all ways – from vocal stylings to mannerisms; from costuming to stage presence – and fans all over the world who’ve seen his tribute not only appreciate Peter’s talent and dedication, but rank his tribute to Elvis as one of the absolute best in the world!

The fourth and final concert of the series brings in Valerie Gillespie, who has played alto saxophone professionally since age 14. Over the years she has added to her repertoire, and now plays soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone sax, as well as flute, piccolo, and clarinet. Gillespie has played with national icons Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Rosemary Clooney, Joan Rivers, and Ray Charles.

All of these shows are sure to sell out, as have previous summer shows, so call (352) 634-3428 to reserve a seat at $25 per person, which includes light appetizers and a cash beverage station. All proceeds benefit the Inverness Cultural Heritage Council and the Citrus County Historical Society, Inc.’s exhibits, programs, and preservation activities.
