Live Oak Theatre is particularly proud to announce the appointment of Jane Russell Geddings as its resident choreographer. Ms. Geddings’ first project will be the choreography for its season opener, Annie.

Ms. Geddings comes to Live Oak Theatre from the Patel Conservatory where she serves as an adjunct faculty member in both dance and theatre departments.

She also served as the camp director for the Metropolitan Ministries program offered through the Conservatory.

Ms. Geddings is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, and has been teaching movement for over 30 years, in all disciplines and styles for all ages, beginner through professional. A lifelong student of movement, she continues to take classes and workshops, most recently with Axis Dance Company.

Ms. Geddings has been recognized regionally for her choreography in theatres along the west coast of Florida. In addition to her original works, she has choreographed 50 musicals and countless camps and recitals.

“Miss Jane” initiated the preschool program for “All American Dance Factory” in Tampa, Florida, which is recognized as one of the top 50 competition studios in the nation. She also serves on the faculty of Space City Tap Fest, an annual event in Houston, Texas.

To date “Miss Jane” has taught in excess of 12,000 students over her dance career, who have ranged in age from 2 to 92, in subjects ranging from tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, gymnastics, yoga, and other disciplines. Her next area of teaching is integrating dancers with mixed ability into the classroom and on stage.

Her enthusiasm and passion are not just limited to dance and theatre. Jane and her husband, classical pianist Robert Miller, are lifetime members of the American Liszt Society.  They live in Brooksville where they are currently restoring a 108 year old home.

“I’ve been following Live Oak Theatre for several years. After attending the recent production of Wizard of Oz, I decided to get involved and offered my services to artistic  director Randi Olsen,” said Ms. Geddings.

Live Oak Theatre immediately accepted the offer. “I am thrilled to have her as part of our production team,” said Ms. Olsen.
