Kids Can Enjoy Virtual Camp Over Holiday Breaks with Citrus County Parks and Recreation

“We had a terrific time with Camp Color Rush this summer, and thought we could bring back virtual art camp in a way that would enhance the holiday season for kids all over the county as we make ornaments, a variety of paintings and drawings, and gifts for family and friends,” said Andrea Cuccaro, Recreation Program Specialist and instructor.

What you’ll need to participate:

A computer, tablet or smart phone complete with a microphone and camera for your child to communicate with instructors and campers online as well as a few household items like paper towels, a cup for painting and a disposable tablecloth or newspaper.

Camp Dates and Information:

-Thanksgiving Break Camp hosted Monday, November 23 through Wednesday, November 25

-Christmas Craft Camp hosted Monday, December 21 through Wednesday, December 23

Each camp will be a 3-day virtual event that will include drawing, painting, and crafting in fall and holiday themes as well as games, a dance-off and a hula hoop contest. The two camps will offer two completely different sets of projects for children interested in attending both. Your child will receive a complete art kit with acrylic and watercolor paints, paintbrushes, colored pencils, sketching pencils, pastels, canvases, craft materials, and a hula-hoop.

Cost for each camp is $30 per child and will be open to children ages 11 to 14. Camp will be held between 9am and 4pm each day and includes three 45 minutes sessions in the morning with 15 minute breaks in between, as well as three 45-minute sessions in the afternoon with a one hour lunch from noon to 1pm. A maximum of ten campers will be hosted and the camps tend to fill up quickly.
