Leadership Pasco will host the first event in its online Leadership
Series, which will be held 8-9 a.m., Tuesday, March 9, on Zoom.

Leadership Pasco to Present Leadership Series: Leading Through a Crisis

“’Leading Through a Crisis’ is a timely first topic as Pasco County and the surrounding area navigates the COVID-19 pandemic with expert leadership from Mike Napier, Health Officer, Florida Department of Health-Pasco County, one of Leadership Pasco’s alumni from the class of 2014,” said Don Anderson, president, Leadership Pasco.

The event, sponsored by United Way of Pasco County, is open to the public. Registration is available online at LeadershipPasco.com and costs are $20 for Leadership Pasco alumni in good standing, $30 for the general public, and $10 for students. Registration is limited to the first 300 people and pre-
registration is required.

The COVID-19 pandemic tested public health leaders during the past year and Napier took center stage, leading Pasco County’s efforts. His presentation will examine various aspects of the pandemic response from getting the first positive case to organizing mass vaccination clinics in the County. Napier also will highlight how communication and local relationships play a key role in managing the fears and expectations of the public.

Napier has served as a lead County Public Health Official for more than half of his 30 years in Public Health, first in Seminole County and now for the last nine years here in Pasco County.

Throughout his career, Napier’s focus has been on collaborative partnerships to maximize the impact public health practice can bring to individuals and communities. Napier has demonstrated leadership beyond county boundaries, serving as the President of the Florida Association of County Health Officers (FACHO), Florida Public Health Association (FPHA), and Florida Association of County Health Department Business Administrators.

He holds an Associate degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Cobleskill, a Bachelor of Professional Studies degree from Barry University, and a Master of Science degree in health sciences from the University of Central Florida.

The goal of the Leadership Pasco Leadership Series is to provide engaging and informative programs for local leaders at a time when in-person program days are postponed due to COVID-19. Its Leadership Series will include two more programs in 2021. The summer program will feature Dan Biles, Pasco County Administrator, as a speaker. The topic and date will be
announced soon on Leadership Pasco’s website.

Leadership Pasco plans to safely resume its annual Leadership Class Program for the Class of 2022, with in-person events beginning in August. Registration for the class is now open, with a deadline of May 5, for submission. More details and the registration form are available at
