Learn about the Autumnal Equinox Sept 17

An equinox is the moment in which the plane of Earth’s equator passes through the center of the Sun’s disk.

Park volunteer Elizabeth DeMonte invites you to learn some fun and interesting facts about the Autumnal Equinox which is coming September 22, 2017.

She will present two programs on the Sunday before the Autumnal Equinox, September 17, at 11:00 am and at 2:00 pm . The programs will be presented in the Florida Room of the park’s Visitor Center and main entrance located on US 19. There will be no charge to attend these programs.

DeMonte says, “The program will explain the Autumnal Equinox, myths and cultural views associated with the Autumnal Equinox, Harvest Moon and Indian Summer. The talk will also discuss the winter preparations and behaviors of animals and vegetation during the fall season.”

These programs will take place at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in the Florida Room of the park’s Visitor Center, located at 4150 S. Suncoast Blvd. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 11:00 am and at 2:00 pm.
