Lifeline Support for Affordable Communications Event in Citrus County September 11
The Central Citrus Community Center, 2804 W. Marc Knighton Ct. Lecanto, will be hosting a speaker from the Florida Public Service Commission, Beverlee DeMello, on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11:30am. This event coincides with National Lifeline Awareness Week, is free and open to the public.
Lifeline is the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) program to help make communications services more affordable for low-income consumers. Lifeline provides subscribers a discount on monthly telephone service purchased from participating providers in the marketplace. Subscribers can also purchase discounted broadband from participating providers. The discounts, which can be applied to stand-alone broadband, bundled voice-broadband packages – either fixed or mobile – and stand-alone voice service – will help ensure that low-income consumers can afford 21st-century broadband and the access it provides to jobs, education and opportunities.
