LifeSouth hosts “Bleed for Brittany” blood drive July 9

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on July 7, 2018

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is hosting a “Bleed for Brittany” blood drive at the Homosassa Post Office on Monday, July 9, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Brittany is a local Citrus County resident who is undergoing treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Brittany’s father works for the Homasassa Post Office and asks that local residents come out and donate to show support for Brittany.

All blood types are critically needed, especially type O negative, which is the universal donor and can be used by all patients in an emergency. Platelet donations are also in critical need.

All donors will be entered to win a $25 Winn Dixie gift card and receive a recognition item.

Blood donors must be at least 17, or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is required. LifeSouth donors receive a complementary cholesterol screening with each donation. For additional information on blood donation, contact LifeSouth at 888-795-2707 or lifesouth.org.
