Light the Night tribute honors fallen firefighters
From October 1 to October 7, 2018, Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) and the City of Brooksville Fire Department will be participating in the annual Light the Night Tribute, a nationwide memorial for firefighters who lost their lives last year while on duty. From dusk to dawn, fire stations countywide will glow red in respect for those fallen firefighters and their families.
“It is our honor to participate in this initiative and remember Steve Terry who lost his life in the line of duty October 16, 2017,” Fire Chief Scott Hechler stated. “Special thanks to retired HCFR Logistics Coordinator, John Lightsey, for volunteering to install the red outdoor lights at all of our stations.”
This memorial is sponsored every October by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Landmarks and fire stations across the country will illuminate in red to honor these fallen heroes.
