Live Oak Conservatory to hold a six-week special dance class for two and three year-olds!

The “Introduction to Movement” class is taught by Miss Jane Russell Geddings and will be held on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30 am for six weeks beginning on February 6th.  For more information about the special pricing for this class and how to register email liveoakconservatory@gmail.com or call 352-593-0270.

The class is a learning readiness program, designed to develop motor skills, body awareness, and basic Tumbling skills. This class is probably the first structured class in the life of a 2 year old, and aims to impart right away, the JOY AND FUN of learning. YES, parents will attend the last class. This class will have more of a parent observation, rather than a showcase. It will show WHAT they have learned, and HOW they learned it.

ABOUT JANE RUSSELL GEDDINGS

Jane Russell Geddings, a native of Charlotte, NC, is a movement specialist trained in multiple dance disciplines, hatha yoga, and musical theatre. “Miss Jane” has been a fixture in the Tampa dance and theatre community for decades.

Her association with Dance Tree International from 1986-2001 set the standard for movement and dance education not only in the studio, but in establishing outreach programs in private and day schools. When Dance Tree left Florida in 2001, Ms. Geddings continued their outreach, establishing Miss Jane’s Class Inc, providing quality instruction in private and day schools in Tampa.

In 2001, she also joined the faculty of All American Dance Factory, where she established the dance program for preschoolers.

In 2013, she was invited to join the faculty of Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center, teaching in the dance and theatre departments. Her work in their Outreach program included directing the dance program for Metropolitan Ministries. She also served as an adjudicator for Broadway Stars of the Future, a Straz Center initiative.  In 2017, she joined Live Oak Theatre in Brooksville, FL, as Resident Choreographer, and was named the Dance Director of Live Oak Conservatory in 2018.

During her 40-year career, Ms. Geddings has had the opportunity to choreograph over 60 musicals in theatres across the West Coast of Florida; write and produce original works; travel nationally as teacher and artist; and work with students, colleagues, and peers, from age 2 to 92. Known as a “teacher’s teacher”, she continues to mentor young artists in technique, choreography, performance, and teaching skills. Her passion for movement extends to teaching senior citizens, dancers with different abilities, and autistic students.
