Local Restaurants to Provide Meals to Seniors

Mid Florida Community Services, Inc., has received meal funding from the Families First Act and the CARES Act which were passed by Congress.

Mid Florida Community Services, Inc., Partners with Local Restaurants to Provide Meals to Seniors

This funding is allowing local service providers, such as Mid Florida Community Services, Inc. (MFCS), to serve more meals to hungry, low-income seniors over the age of 60 who are in need or are homebound because of COVID-19.

In an effort to address these needs, MFCS partnered with the following restaurants throughout our service area:  The Main Street Eatery in Brooksville (Hernando County), Black and Brew Coffee House and Bistro in Lakeland (Polk County) and Naples Italian Restaurant in Leesburg (Lake County). This has not only been a big win for our seniors, but also for the local economy as it has helped put people back to work.  Since inception in June, these partnerships have resulted in 1500 more meals being served to hungry, low-income seniors in our communities.

“Older adults are such an important part of our communities.  I value these adults and I am proud to serve them through our Senior Services Program in Hernando, Sumter, Lake, and Polk Counties”, said Michael Georgini, CEO of MFCS.  “I can’t thank these local restaurants enough for partnering with us to serve seniors in their communities.”
