Free Class – Lilly’s Favorite 50

Residents are invited to attend “Lilly’s Favorite 50” on Thursday, May 4, 2017, 10:30 a.m. The class will be held at the West Hernando Library located at 6335 Blackbird Ave. in Brooksville. The class will be presented by Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning. She will share the wonderful variety of plant life available in central Florida and how to add diversity to your landscape. Great for newcomers! Free class. No registration necessary.

Free Class -Stump the Experts

Residents are invited to attend “Stump the Experts!” on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, 10:30 a.m. The class will be held at the Spring Hill Branch Library located at 9220 Spring Hill Dr. in Spring Hill. The class will be presented by Urban Horticulture Agent Dr. Bill Lester and Master Gardener Bernie Bathauer. In this informal session, we invite you to bring your plant samples, lawn samples, insect samples and your questions. Ask those pressing questions about Florida gardening, and learn from the questions of others. Free Class. No registration necessary.

Free Class – Wild by Design

Residents are invited to attend “Wild by Design” on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. The class will be held at the Chinsegut Conservation Center located at 23212 Lake Lindsey Road in Brooksville. The class will be presented by Master Gardener/ Native Plant Expert Rita Grant. Participants will learn tips to bring wildlife to their landscape. Free class. No registration necessary.

Rain Barrel Workshop

Residents are invited to attend a Rain Barrel workshop on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. The workshop will be held at the Spring Hill Branch Library located at 9220 Spring Hill Dr. in Spring Hill. Florida-Friendly Landscaping Program Coordinator, Lilly Browning will present the Rain Barrel Workshop.

To attend the Rain Barrel Workshop, you must pre-register and send $55 to HCUD – 15635 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, FL 34613. Write “Rain Barrel Workshop May 20th” on the envelope. Hernando County Utilities Customers who attend the workshop and install a rain barrel at their home will receive at one-time credit on their water bill for $25. Please bring a vehicle that can accommodate a 55-gallon barrel. Attendance at a workshop is mandatory to purchase a rain barrel. Please call (352) 540-6230 for more information.
