Mermaid Costume Contest February 29
A mermaid costume contest will be open to people and pets during the Grand Opening of the Florida Mermaid Trail! The judging will take place at 10:30 am in Hernando Park, located at 205 E. Fort Dade Avenue in downtown Brooksville.
Real Weeki Wachee Mermaids and Ariel the Mermaid of All Things Enchanted will also be in attendance for photo opportunities for the whole family. There will be live music from Joe Solomon and Bill Creel and fun mermaid activities for the kids!
This is also the first opportunity to get your very own map created by Lee Middleton Art, or download the official app and set off to explore the Florida Mermaid Trail! It all happens at Hernando Park, 205 E. Fort Dade Avenue in Historic Downtown Brooksville from 10 am – 3 pm.
What is the Florida Mermaid Trail?
The Florida Mermaid Trail includes two routes (1.1 miles and 2.2 miles) that include Main Street, Liberty Street, Brooksville Avenue, the Good Neighbor Trail, Jefferson Street, Saxon Avenue, Broad Street, and Ft. Dade Avenue.
Walkers will search for 20 bronze statues mounted on buildings along the trail. We anticipate lots of selfies, Instagram posts, and #flmermaidtrail hash-tagging! The goal is to get people walking and exploring historic downtown Brooksville.
Join the Brooksville Main Street program, Florida’s Adventure Coast, and the friendly businesses and residents of Brooksville, Florida, for a morning of fun for the entire family!
