$30M State of the Art Facility will employ 500

The Product Inspection Group of METTLER TOLEDO, the largest manufacturer of product inspection systems for the food and pharmaceutical industries, has moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in Pasco County, Florida.

With 270,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space, the Group will now house four business units; the Tampa-based Safeline Metal Detection and X-Ray Inspection business unit moved into the new facility this month along with Eagle Product Inspection. During the upcoming summer, they will be joined by Mettler Toledo Hi-Speed Checkweighing, currently residing in Ithaca NY, and Mettler Toledo Vision Inspection, currently residing in Aurora IL. Together these Business Units, design and manufacture systems to eliminate physical contaminants, verify product and package integrity and verify package weights, ensuring that safer food and pharmaceutical products enter the marketplace.

“We are excited to relocate to Pasco County and to introduce many new jobs to the area,” says General Manager, Viggo Nielsen. “Our manufacturing plant is truly state-of-the-art and the new facility will not only allow us to significantly exceed our customer’s expectations with regards to application testing and machine check-out, but will also have great employee amenities and a collaborative environment, which we believe will attract the special talents we are looking for to fill the new positions.”

Among chief factors for selecting Pasco County for the new facility were the area’s diverse and experienced labor pool.

“Viggo and his team at METTLER TOLDEDO have already become great partners to us,” shared Bill Cronin, President/CEO, Pasco EDC. “The diverse jobs they are creating from manufacturing to professional office personnel provide an excellent opportunity for Pasco’s workforce.”

METTLER TOLEDO hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate their grand opening for the employees, local government officials, neighboring companies, suppliers and construction partners March 29.
