Night of Lights at the Museum in Floral City
Art and history will highlight the “Night of Lights” at the Floral City Heritage Hall Museum on Thursday, November 9 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Located in the town center, the Museum will participate with other businesses and the library in the Annual Floral City Night of Lights evening.
The newly introduced exhibit, “Another Day, Another Dollar: Making a Living in the Old Days” has been lauded as one of the Museum’s most outstanding exhibits.
This “Night of Lights” event will be an excellent opportunity to view the exhibit at a time other than at the usual Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
In addition to the variety of enlightening exhibits, visitors at the Night of Lights will also be able to view and purchase a select few paintings by the accomplished artist Anita Roy’s (1919-2004).
Anita Roy is known for her bold use of color on large canvases when depicting the numerous Citrus County landscapes she painted. She once stated that although she had dabbled in painting before coming to the area, it was the natural environment of Floral City that gave her inspiration to paint seriously.
One of her exceptional paintings has been selected for a public drawing.

Tickets for this fund raiser will be available at the Night of Lights and continue through Saturday, December 2 during the annual Floral City Heritage Days. One ticket is $3.00, two tickets are $5.00 and five tickets are $10.00. One does not need to be present for the drawing which will be held at the end of the day December 2. Proceeds from the drawing will be used by the Floral City Heritage Council to further its mission of historic preservation, museum exhibits and folk life programs.
The Heritage Hall Museum “County” Store, also, will be open that evening for browsing and buying. It contains a wide variety of items suitable for Christmas gifts including children’s toys. The Museum Store is the premier location for all Floral City memorabilia.
