Saturday, November 3: Hernando Audubon Society trip to Lake Townsen Preserve, 28011 Lake Lindsey Road (CR-476), Brooksville. At 8 AM meet at the first parking lot (near the restrooms) in the park. Jim King, retired land manager for Hernando County’s Environmentally Sensitive Lands, will give introductory remarks about this 374-acre property. Then we will be watching for birds as Jim leads us on a 1.5 mile walk to a restoration area and to two wetlands on a loop trail through sandhill. Friday, November 16: Hernando Audubon Beginning Birding at 8 AM at Chinsegut Conservation Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville.  Learn to identify birds at feeders and during a short walk. Saturday, November 17: Hernando Audubon Society and Chinsegut Conservation Center are sponsoring Bird Box Buildathon, a family-friendly (ages 3 and up) day of birding activities, beginning at 10 AM. This will be held at Chinsegut Conservation Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road, Brooksville. Pre-order a nest box of your choice (by calling 352-754-6722) and assemble it with assistance on site. Other activities throughout the day include guided bird walks and at 2 PM “Cooking for Wildlife” about making “suet” and other feeder food.  For information, call Chinsegut: 352-754-6722.
