But that doesn’t stop the Old Homosassa community! We have stuff to do! And all of you NatureCoasters are invited to join in!
First up, put Wednesday June 7th on your calendar for “Paint for Paws” at Watson’s Art Gallery. The class will be held at two different times, 12:00 – 3:00 or 5:00 – 8:00.
Gil and Wendy Watson have long been supporters of our local community and for this event are partnering with Snippet Citrus for a 3D paint class. All proceeds go to Snippet Citrus.
There are two different molds to choose from.
I’ve got a soft spot for my own little JR terrier so I know which one I would pick!
My husband Terry and I have taken the Watson’s Art Gallery 3D painting classes before. They are a lot of fun and Gil is a great instructor! You can find out more about Watson’s Art Gallery and their 3D paint classes at watsons3d.com. Reservations can also be made on Eventbrite. The art gallery is at 10330 W Yulee Drive in Old Homosassa. Call (352) 503-2053 for reservations or questions.
Then on the following Saturday and Sunday (June 10th and 11th) is the 33rd Annual Cobia Big Fish Tournament at MacRae’s of Homosassa. Even if you don’t enter the tournament, the event is a lot of fun. It’s become a bit of a tradition for Terry and I (along with several dozen other locals) to watch the boats check in at 7 am from MacRae’s. Later in the afternoon we return to witness the weigh in of the big fish.
And on the last Saturday of June, the 24th, we have the 19th Annual Homosassa River Fireworks Festival & Poker Run. The Poker Run starts at 8am followed by all day events and fun and ends with a fireworks display on the Homosassa River at approximately 9 pm.
The Old Homosassa Heritage Council will have a booth set up at MacRae’s for the two latter events with raffles, t-shirts, posters, and coozies available for a donation towards painting the Old Homosassa Water Tower.
Don’t let the heat keep you inside! Come to Old Homosassa and enjoy our unique events!
