The Rotary Club of Spring Hill Central will host a Pars vs. Polio Golf Tournament on Sunday, October 2, at Hernando Oaks Golf Course. The shotgun start will begin at 9:00 a.m.
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. with a $75 entry fee per person. The format is a four-person scramble. Men will hit from white tee markers and ladies will hit from the red tee markers. A buffet lunch and awards will follow the tournament. Also included are numerous raffle drawings and a silent auction.
This event is open to the public. All proceeds will benefit PolioPlus, a program established by Rotary International to eradicate polio throughout the globe. Eradicating polio will be a huge health victory. When Rotary began the fight to end this disease, polio infected nearly 350,000 people – mostly children – in 125 countries every year. Since then, the number of polio cases has plummeted by more than 99 percent and the wild poliovirus remains endemic to isolated pockets in only two countries. Last year there were only 74 cases reported. Rotary and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation hope to have the last one this year.
