Pasco Animal Services Achieves Service Enterprise Certification

Pasco County Animal Services (PCAS) is proud to share that it has been certified as a Service Enterprise by Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service.  Volunteers are the cornerstone of the life-saving mission at PCAS, and this achievement signifies a demonstrated ability to strategically integrate their skills, talents and time to improve the shelter’s performance.

Organizations that certify with Points of Light join the top 11 percent of nonprofits nationwide in volunteer management and organizational performance.  In addition to growing their in-house volunteer program, PCAS is now a highly-recommended shelter for training opportunities.

“The Service Enterprise journey has a tremendous impact, identifying opportunities and areas of service that can benefit from the efforts of our dedicated volunteer team,” said PCAS Director Mike Shumate.  “Our growth and the success of the shelter is a direct result of their generous contributions.”

For every $1 spent engaging volunteers, Pasco County Animal Services can see up to a 600 percent return on investment.  PCAS offers more than 35 volunteer opportunities, and in 2019 volunteers recorded an exceptional 21,000+ hours of service.
