Pasco County Encourages Water Conservation During Shortage

Pasco County Utilities is announcing increased water restrictions following a Southwest Florida Water Management District vote to declare a Phase I Water Shortage for multiple area counties.  The restrictions are in effect May 8, through July 1, 2020, and prohibit “wasteful and unnecessary” uses such as hosing down driveways and impervious surfaces, allowing water to flow unattended, and using water in a grossly inefficient manner.

All Pasco County residents and homeowner associations are encouraged to conserve water when possible and follow watering guidelines as the region continues to experience dry conditions.

Pasco County remains on one-day-a-week lawn watering restrictions for potable irrigation. Irrigation users should test systems for leaks and efficiency.  If the irrigation system is equipped with a rain shut-off device or soil moisture sensor, be sure it is turned on and working properly.

In Pasco County, regardless of the irrigation water source, all watering is prohibited between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
