Pasco County Utilities has designed an industry-changing water analysis unit that’s transforming the way we look at water.  ‘Neptune’ – a self-contained, mobile, solar-powered water analyzer is designed to continuously and remotely analyze water for chlorine and pH levels, as well as water pressure, to ensure the best water quality for Pasco County residents.

“Neptune” water analysis tool was designed to be self-contained.

This new unit allows utility crews to monitor water quality from the moment it leaves Pasco County Utilities until the time it arrives in customers’ homes.

“Neptune is a game changer,” said Rob Marin, Utilities Operations and Maintenance Director.  “This innovative unit has multiple capabilities, including serving as a tactical decision aid for improving flushing requirements, while maintaining satisfactory chlorine residuals.”

The “Neptune” water analysis tool allows utility crews to monitor water quality from the moment it leaves Pasco County Utilities until the time it arrives in customers’ homes.

Instead of sending employees out to collect water samples three to four times a day, Neptune allows staff to examine samples collected every minute from various locations – saving time, money and resources.  Neptune offers the following advantages:

  • Easy, 15 minute set-up
  • Collects real-time samples from any login access County-wide
  • Historical data collection
  • Identifies seasonal differences in water quality
  • Data will determine how water is adjusted and treated by area
The water analysis tool is solar powered!

Providing high-quality drinking water to citizens requires a utilities infrastructure with an efficient flushing program to ensure quality, taste, clarity and color.  With Neptune, Pasco County Utilities will be able to adjust flushing time and volume based on real-time data, saving water and money.  From conception to creation the project took under a month.
