Third grade students are inspired to become future leaders

The Pasco County Board of County Commissioners hosted approximately 130 third-grade students from Cypress Elementary School during a field trip to the West Pasco Government Center on Thursday, May 3, 2018.  For the third consecutive year, students enjoyed a day of hands-on learning with a variety of Pasco County Government departments and their local officials.

“These bright young people represent the future leaders of our community,” said Chairman Mike Wells.  “It’s inspiring to witness the excitement the students displayed.”

The in-person civics lesson provided students and teachers the unique opportunity to act out their own Board of County Commissioners meeting.  Teachers played the role of commissioners while students asked tough questions from the lectern including, “What law would you get rid of?”
