Presentation on New Port Richey’s Green City Initiative February 26

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on February 22, 2018

Dell deChant, Chair of the City of New Port Richey’s Environmental Committee, will be joined by Barret Doe, Acting Assistant Public Works Director, at an upcoming program taking place at People Places (5742 Main St) in downtown New Port Richey on Monday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m.

It will be an informal presentation and information session on the City’s Green City initiative, a project proposed by the Environmental Committee and endorsed by City Council.

Cities all over America are working overtime to be clean, sustainable, and environmentally friendly. Green initiatives like waste management, forest restoration, natural resource protection, public transportation and alternative energy projects can have positive effects both on the environment and the budget.

Cities with green policies embrace these initiatives and others, and their success comes from involving the entire community in the effort to be as green as possible. It is the hope of the City’s Environmental Committee to lead the City of New Port Richey into a new Green Age.

The program speakers will be Dell deChant and Barret Doe.

deChant is associate chair of the department of Religious Studies at USF-Tampa and former City Council member.

Doe is the city’s professional liaison to the Environmental Committee. Together with Samantha Hamilton of City’s Public Works department, they are spearheading the Green City initiative.
