Rotary Club Of New Port Richey Celebrates 60 Years Of Service To Community

Sixty years of club memorabilia were on display with an array of news articles awards, photos and a video presentation of important moments of the club’s various successes and influence in the community.

Presiding at this momentous event was this year’s current president, Greg Smith noting that “we celebrate not only sixty years as a club, but also the members who have given so much time to this community over those years…”Service Above!”

On the program was charter member, Bill Maytum, who talked about the club’s beginnings in 1959 and what New Port Richey was like only fifteen years after WWII, which was a nice little town and a great place to raise a family.

Also speaking that evening were Walter Casson and Niles Kinnunen, both longtime members each speaking about notable events that took place during their years as president. In the club’s charter year there were 21 members.  Today the membership is 149 professional men and women.

A commemorative program specially created for this event was made available to all attendees and noted the various club projects, programs, and events throughout the past 60 years.  Members meet every Wednesday for lunch at noon at the Spartan Manor in New Port Richey.
