The Hernando County Parks & Recreation Department announces its summer camp schedule. A variety of camps are being offered for children ages 8-14. Some camps have limited enrollment and age limits differ by camp.

Registration forms may be faxed, emailed, mailed or delivered to the Parks & Recreation office located at 205 Fort Dade Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Basketball

Enjoy one of the most requested camps with two weeks to choose from. Learn the fundamentals of the game, drills and skills, followed by scrimmage games

  • Cost: $80, Monday-Thursday
  • Limit: 50 campers
  • Location:  West Hernando Middle School – 14325 Ken Austin Parkway in Brooksville
  • Ages: 8 to 14             
  • Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., *7:30 – 9 a.m. or 3 – 4 p.m. is available for an additional $15
  • Dates:  June 10-13 and July 8-11

Volleyball Camp

Enjoy one of the most requested camps with one week to choose from. Learn the fundamentals of the game, drills and skills, followed by scrimmage games.  

  • Cost: $80, Monday-Thursday            
  • Limit: 50 campers
  • Location:  West Hernando Middle School – 14325 Ken Austin Parkway in Brooksville
  • Ages: 8 to 14             
  • Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., *7:30 – 9 a.m. or 3 – 4 p.m. is available for an additional $15
  • Dates:  June 24-27

Weeki Wachee Kayak Days

Join us on a paddling experience down the Weeki Wachee River. Campers must be able to swim and paddling experience is preferred but not needed. You will be guided down the river by two HCRD staff and will end the adventure at Rogers Park located at 7244 Shoal Line Boulevard near Hernando Beach. Please bring all snacks/lunch in waterproof containers, sunscreen, bug spray and towel if you wish. All tandem kayaks, paddles and flotation devices are provided.

  • Cost: $20 per day                  
  • Limit: 20 campers
  • Location: Boating in Florida – 6131 Commercial Way in Spring Hill
  • Ages: 10 -14              
  • Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Dates: June 5, 12, 19 and 26; July 10, 17, 24, 31; August 7

Sports Camp

Enjoy a variety of indoor and outdoor sports activities, including basketball, flag football, tennis, dodge ball, kickball and more. Campers will spend each day learning the rules and playing the games of the most common sports they love to participate in.

  • Cost: $80, Monday – Thursday                      
  • Limit: 50 campers
  • Location:  West Hernando Middle School – 14325 Ken Austin Parkway in Brooksville
  • Ages: 8 to 14
  • Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., *7:30 – 9 a.m. or 3 – 4 p.m. is available for an additional $15
  • Dates:  June 17-20, July 1-3, 15-18

Football

Learn the fundamentals of the game, drills, skills, and conditioning. Camp will be conducted by Calvin Brown and Marion Jones who work with the high school football
programs.

  • Cost: $80, Monday-Thursday            
  • Limit: 20 campers
  • Location:  Delta Woods Park – 3400 Deltona Boulevard in Spring Hill
  • Ages: 8 to 14             
  • Time: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., *7:30 – 8 a.m. or 2 – 4 p.m. is available for an additional $15
  • Dates:  July 29 – August 1

Horsin Around

Campers will be assigned a partner and each pair will be assigned one horse that they will ride and care for, for the week. The campers will be taught and expected to lead, groom, tack up, ride, feed and clean stalls for their assigned horse. The goal is to give the camper the true feeling of being a horse owner. While having the fun of riding is important, the work involved will be experienced as well. There is a waiver that will need to be signed upon registration. (200 lb. max weight for Blair Performance Horses.)

  • Cost: $250, Monday-Friday               
  • Limit: 18 campers
  • Location: Blair Performance Horses – 9370 Cooper Terrace in Brooksville
  • Ages: 8 to 14
  • Time: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 
  • Dates: June 10-14, 17-21

Offshore Day

Enjoy a day out fishing with other campers and their parents. The whole boat will be chartered. This trip is designed for parents and kids to enjoy offshore fishing together.

  • Cost: $65, Thursday              
  • Limit: 24 people
  • Location:  Thunder Party Boat – 4317 Calienta Street in Hernando Beach
  • Ages: 8 to 14             
  • Time: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.        
  • Dates:  June 27

Outdoor Adventure Camp

Enjoy a week of adventures. Each week has a slight difference in activities. Some trips will be kayaking, offshore fishing, Rays baseball game, Adventure Island, Rainbow River, Fort Desoto, Tree Hoppers, Skyzone, Cemex and many others. Field trips are subject to change due to weather but will be replaced with field trips of the same caliber. Pick up and drop off times will vary depending on the week/trips. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. See the daily itinerary for each week at www.HernandoCounty.us/Parks_Rec.

  • Cost: $175 per week, Monday – Thursday                
  • Limit: 20 campers per week
  • Ages: 8 to 14             
  • Time: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Dates: June 3-7, 10-14, 17-21, 24-28; July 8-12, 15-19, 22-26; July 29 – August 2, August 5-9
