STATE PARK CELEBRATES MANATEE APPRECIATION DAY

While Park Rangers and volunteers at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park appreciate manatees all year, on Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 manatees move directly into the spotlight. Join us to celebrate one of Florida’s most beloved animals, the Florida Manatee, on Manatee Appreciation Day.

Come to the park for one of the three scheduled manatee programs to learn more about manatees, the state park’s manatee program, and what you can do to protect these gentle giants. View our three captive manatees up close and possibly see wild manatees from the Underwater Observatory, Garden of the Springs, or Long River Bridge. To help with the celebration, Rocky the Manatee will be joining us to take pictures with manatee lovers and visit with the public. Rocky will be at the park from 11AM to 12:30PM..

For more information on this event, call the park office at 352-628-5343. For more information on activities in all of Florida’s State Parks, visit www.floridastateparks.org.
