Indie Rock Post Punk Band Strange Ranger Plays Downtown New Port Richey

Strange Ranger Drops By Central West Florida

Thanks to a collaboration between Ashtray Monument and Rock the Boat Productions, Philadelphia-based Indie Rock/Post Punk band Strange Ranger has added a tour date in Central West Florida on Tuesday, September 10, 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, at Ordinance One (5738 Main Street) in downtown New Port Richey. Also performing; Taylor Reed and The Rectifiers. No cover.

Strange Ranger (AKA Sioux Falls) is an Indie-Rock/Post-Punk band from Bozeman, Montana, now based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, featuring Isaac Eiger (guitars, vocals), Fred Nixon (bass, piano, vocals), Nathan Tucker (drums), Tyler Bussey (guitar) and Fiona Woodman (vocals, keyboards). The band was formed by Isaac Eiger and Fred Nixon, who have been playing music together since 2009 when the pair were still in high school. With a friendship built on their mutual love of early Modest Mouse, the two would eventually make the move to Portland in search of more fertile musical soil.

The band would struggle to solidify over the next few years but those hardships would lead to their breakthrough debut full-length album, Rot Forever under the name Sioux Falls, released in February of 2016. From there it has been a whirlwind of notoriety for the band. Rot Forever was named one of Consequence of Sound’s ‘Top 50 Albums of 2016.’ Later in 2016 the band would change their name to Strange Ranger and release a new EP, Sunbeams Through Your Head, which would make Stereogum’s list of ‘Great EPs from 2016.’ Those two releases would also lead Stereogum to name Strange Ranger one of ‘2016’s Best New Bands.’

The band has since released three albums under the Tiny Engines label; Daymoon October 2017, How It All Went By October 2018, and Remembering The Rockets in July of this year.

ABOUT ASHTRAY MONUMENT

Ashtray monument was founded by Drew Williams in February of 2018, then quickly joined by life long friends, Louis Ciper, and James MacDonald. The trio’s mission, don’t let the music die, inspired them to connect with bands from the past, offering to digitize albums and make them available via streaming.

Originally founded only to reissue records digitally, the company has since evolved into a more traditional record label distributing and producing physical media. The first physical release was The Fires Future Ghosts 7. The trio still continues to focus on the digital reissue of albums from older bands as well releasing current music.

To date the company has 20 digital releases (mostly reissues) under their label, one is on 7 inch vinyl, another is on cassette. Future releases include physical copies of Circles, a compilation CD featuring: Radon, Shyster, My Pal Trigger, The New Lows, Bad Year, Ash County Sluggers, Sweethearts, Fires, Sons of James, Broken Things, Curious Markings, Spells, Soft Clicks, Minimum Rage, Dredger, and Swivel Stick.
