A landscape project to enhance the US Hwy 98/Ponce De Leon entrance to the Oak Village section of Sugarmill Woods and was identified by the Property Owner’s Association (POA) and brought to the attention of Commissioner Ron Kitchen.

On July 18, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) notified Citrus  County that the requested funding of the State Road 700 (US Hwy 98/W. Ponce De Leon Blvd.) landscape project was approved for $395,000.

“When I was first contacted about this effort by The Oak Village POA I believed it could be a great public private partnership.” said County Commissioner Ron Kitchen. “Now, because of the work of all involved, including County Administrator Randy Oliver, county staff and the funding from FDOT, this project will become a reality.”

Agencies selected to receive landscape funding must enter into a Highway Landscape Reimbursement Memorandum of agreement (HLRMOA) with the Department. The Property Owner’s Association will be responsible for maintenance of these improvements and any costs in excess of the grant. A project schedule will be developed when the formal grant paperwork is received.
