The employees of Pasco County Government have joined together, along with Pasco County Constitutional Offices and Pasco County Schools, to collect NEW shoes and socks for Pasco school children. Hundreds of shoes and socks have been collected since the drive started in September.
The final shoe and sock count will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at a distribution ceremony. The event will begin at 11 a.m. in the Ridgewood High School Gym, with parking located at the back of the high school campus at 7650 Orchid Lake Rd, New Port Richey, FL, 34653. The public is welcome to attend.
Employees who participated in the event will take part in the ceremony, honoring those who have come together to ensure the children of Pasco County are able to put their best foot forward throughout the school year. The event will also feature students from Ridgewood High School’s Navy Jr. ROTC and choir.
“One pair of shoes and socks makes all the difference in the world to a child and their family,” said Assistant County Administrator Cathy Pearson. “Every child deserves the opportunity to feel confident at school, to eliminate any anxiety about having something to wear in class, for outside activities, or simply in their everyday experience as kids.”
The shoe and sock drive came to light through fellow Pasco County employees, in their efforts to support the community.
“Helping local children is near and dear to many and as a community we are excited to see each employee draw on their talents to make this initiative a success,” said Pearson.
