Upcoming Events in Old Homosassa
So much going on in our little community! This past Saturday the Old Homosassa Heritage Council held their very popular annual dinner party. This year it was “Toga for the Tower” and raised funds for the lighting of the Old Homosassa Water Tower. It was a great time.
This Thursday, February 21st, Captain William Toney will be holding the Fishing Homosassa 101 Seminar at 7 pm at the Homosassa Civic Club. Captain Toney is a great and very educational speaker and this program will definitely be standing-room only! So, if you plan on attending, you might want to be a little early!
On March 1st, the local art galleries will be hosting the 19th Annual Luminary Art Night on Yulee Drive from 5 pm to 9 pm. Galleries to visit are the Old Mill House Gallery-Print Museum & Museum Cafe, River Safaris-Nautical gifts, Glass Garage-stained-fused glass and pottery, Pepper Creek Pottery-sculptural and functional clay works and studio, Riverworks-Jenkins copper sculptures & driftwood furniture. This is always a fun evening and we never miss it!
Two weeks later, it’s time for the Shrimpapalooza hosted by the Homosassa Springs Rotary Club. From 9 am to 6 pm on March 16th. This is Mari Gras Homosassa Style! My favorite part is the parade with all of the crazy costumes and decorated golf carts. This year the Homosassa Ukers will be in it! The parade starts at the Old Mill Tavern and it’s tradition to have a Bloody Mary and Biscuits and Gravy before the parade begins. After the parade, make sure to go into the festival and check out the arts, crafts, food, and entertainment. Perhaps SHRIMP will be available???
Next up is the 3rd annual Old Homosassa Community Day. Held at the Homosassa Civic Club, this event benefits numerous groups. There is a HUGE yard sale inside of the club house run by the Old Homosassa Heritage Council. Arts and Crafts Booths and delicious food will be available on the festival grounds behind the club house. This year there will also be a corn hold tournament. Fun for everyone! More about the Old Homosassa Community Day in the weeks to come!
Always plenty of fun things to do in Old Homosassa!
