Veterans Memorial Rededication in New Port Richey May 18
The City of New Port Richey will celebrate the rededication of the Veterans Memorial at Orange Lake on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 9:00 a.m.
This monument to America’s Veterans was built by the American Legion Post 79 in 1947. It was recently refurbished as part of Phase II of the Orange Lake Restoration Project. The Orange Lake Restoration Project began last year with the initial dredging of the lake.
The ceremony will include several members from different local military groups. Ed White from Post 79 will speak on the history of the monument in addition to a variety of military vehicles that will be on display.

“The Veterans Memorial is our city’s way of thanking all of those brave men and women who put aside their own personal safety every day fighting to ensure all of the freedoms we enjoy today,” stated City Manager Debbie L. Manns.
Road closures for this event include Circle Boulevard from Central Avenue to Grand Boulevard and Grand Boulevard to Bank Street. Parking will be available in the Gloria Swanson Parking Lot and may be accessed via Bank Street. Grand Boulevard will also be closed from Main Street north to the memorial.
The rededication coincides with our nation’s annual observance of Armed Forces Day.
