Hernando County Fire Rescue is looking for qualified volunteers to help save lives and property in our community. This Volunteer Firefighter Program is a valuable opportunity for Florida certified firefighters just starting their careers and in need of experience. Retired state certified firefighters who wish to continue serving are also eligible.
“Volunteer firefighters are an important part of our team of professional emergency responders,” Fire Chief/Assistant County Administrator Scott Hechler said. “We are building upon our existing high performing department with this supplemental program and hope to recruit our next generation of career firefighters looking to work, serve and live in their home town.”
Volunteers receive the following benefits:
- Continuing education credit for maintaining certification
- Free annual physical
