Annual event gets rid of trash and debris in community

Volunteers Needed for Pasco County Coastal Cleanup

Pasco County is known for its rich natural resources—from pristine waterways to lush wetlands.  Keep Pasco Beautiful and Pasco County Government aim to preserve the beauty around us.  The organizations will team up for the annual International Coastal Cleanup, an event that collects and gets rid of trash and debris.

Volunteers are needed for the one-day event at various locations throughout Pasco.

WHEN:         Saturday, September 18, 2021

TIME:           8 a.m. to noon

“Red Tide and algae blooms have affected our beautiful Gulf of Mexico,” said Keep Pasco Beautiful Coordinator Kristen King. “Cleaning up our community, both on land and in the water, can have a positive, long-lasting impact.”

Volunteers have until September 10, 2021, to register.  Click HERE to sign up.  Disposable gloves and trash bags will be provided.  Coastal Cleanup t-shirts will be handed out while supplies last.

The event helps prevent marine debris by cleaning roads and public spaces before trash travels through the stormwater system and ultimately into waterways.

The International Coastal Cleanup is coordinated by Ocean Conservancy.  Since 1986, the event has collected more than 340 million pounds of trash with help from around 16 million volunteers worldwide.
