Weeki Wachee Preserve Wildfire closes Shoal Line Blvd.

By Florida's Original NatureCoaster™ Posted on April 9, 2017

Shoal Line Blvd. will be closed from Linda Pedersen Park, 6300 Shoal Line Blvd., to the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building, 4340 Calienta St., until further notice.

This is due to the wildfire that is trying to be contained and put out in the Weeki Wachee Preserve. It is believed to have started from a lightning strike earlier last week that was smoldering. When the weather cooled and winds started the fire was ignited and has spread tremendously.

Firefighters from Hernando and Pasco Counties are onsite fighting the blaze. A helicopter has been used to drop water on the blaze to help extinguish it.

Please pray for the safety of our firefighters as they tackle this tremendous challenge, and avoid Shoal Line Boulevard in the Hernando Beach area meanwhile.
