Yulee Drive Sidewalk Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The public is invited to join the Board of Citrus County Commissioners for the Yulee Drive Sidewalk Ceremony on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at 9:00 am at the Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins Historic State Park, County Road 490, in Homosassa, Florida. No RSVP is needed to attend.

The nearly $828,000 construction contract with Florida Safety Contractors, Inc. for the Yulee Drive sidewalk project was approved by the Board of County Commissioners on November 27, 2018.  The Department of Transportation (DOT) Local Agency Program (LAP) paid $625,000 of the $828,000 through a federal grant.

The new 2.8 mile, 5- to 6-foot wide concrete sidewalk is constructed within the existing right of way along Yulee Drive from W. Central Street to US19 (Suncoast Highway). The sidewalk will be a welcomed addition to the community providing a safe means of connecting area residences to the Homosassa Elementary School, places of employment, shopping and to the wide-walk/path currently being constructed as part of the US19 widening project.
